Virginia Haussegger AM is an award-winning journalist, communications specialist and gender equity advocate.

Her extensive media career spans 30 years, in which Virginia has reported around the globe for primetime current affair programs on Channel 7, the 9 Network, and ABC TV. She anchored the ABC’s flagship TV News in Canberra from 2001-2016.

Virginia regularly hosts a broad range of public forums, conferences and panel discussions, covering diverse fields of knowledge spanning academic, public and private sectors.

She has worked across Commonwealth departments on the design and delivery of bespoke communication and presentation masterclasses. 

In 2017 Virginia established the 50/50 by 2030 Foundation, at the University of Canberra, where she is an Adjunct Professor. She is the host of BroadTalk, a podcast about Women, Power and Leadership.

Meet the BroadTalk Team

Martyn Pearce is BroadTalk’s Executive Producer, sound architect, guest wrangler and social media manager.

Martyn has a background in journalism and communications. In a previous job at The Australian National University he was one of the creators of the popular Democracy Sausage podcast, and Policy Forum Pod.

He is a lover of art and beautiful things, a seeker of obscure music, rider of bicycles, friend to all dogs, maker of good coffee, South Londoner and supporter of Crystal Palace FC, collector of fine whisky he rarely drinks, proud resident of Yass, and teller of bad jokes.
